The young Pirates took the long route to Carrizo to take on the Wildcats. The 7th grade B team suffered there first lost in district play; Wildcats 34, Pirates 14.
The 7th Grade A team flexed their muscles. The leadership skills of Kannon Hunter came through having a hand in all of the Pirates scoring. Mr. Hunter had three rushing touchdowns, a interception returned for a touchdown, and threw a 40yards touchdown to Jeffrey Toscano.
The defense was anchored by Victor Garcia, Saban Perez, Jack Hinshaw, and Devin Frias. These young men helped to keep the wildcats from scoring; Pirates 36/Wildcats 0.
The 8th grade had another classic battle but turnovers and costly penalties erased points for the Pirates. Jeremy Thominson made one of the most spectacular snags I have ever seen; on an over thrown ball (so we thought), Jeremy jumped and snagged the ball out of the air with one hand (the catch would make ESPN's top 10). Unfortunately, the touchdown was taken away due to a holding penalty. The are learning how to compete and will always give their best. Wildcats 20/Pirates 10. The boys will be at home this Thursday to face the Colts of Devine.
