The Lytle Cross Country team had their District meet in Hondo on Saturday and had a very great showing . Every runner in the high school posted a PR (personal record) and 15 of the 21 runners came home with an individual medal. We won 3 of the 4 divisions and won 3 of the 4 district individual titles. I was very proud of how we ran and how we handled ourselves before and after the meet. These kids showed great sportsmanship and came together as a team at the right time of the year. We hope that this continues for the next 2 weeks (Regionals-November 2nd) as we try and extend our season and hopefully make a return trip to Round Rock (State Meet-November 9th).
Congratulations to the boys for winning their 8th straight district title and 7th out of the last 8 individual district titles. Jethro Stokes did an excellent job winning by over 22 seconds and last year he didn’t even run varsity at the district meet.
Congratulations to the girls for winning their first district CC title since 2007 and the first district team title in any sport since 2009-10. All of the Lytle CC runners represented our school and community with pride and integrity. It was great to see the respect and attention they received from all of the schools in our district, especially after all the hard work they have put in.
Thanks to everyone who attended the meet and supported these student athletes. I hope that you felt as proud as I did to be a Pirate on Saturday.
Below are the individual results and attached are a few pictures of our District Champions and the medalists. We hope that you can come and support us on November 2nd as we try to build on what we did Saturday. I will also forward the results for anyone interested in how we did in comparison to everyone else.
