The Lytle Pirates traveled to enemy territory on Friday night and shutout the Carrizo Springs Wildcats 22-0!  It was a great team effort and improves the Pirates to 2-0 in district play with 3 games remaining.  The Offense produced 411 total yards.  Bryan Bippert was 10-19 and 127 yards passing while also rushing for 57 yards and a touchdown.  This sophomore continues to grow before our eyes.  He is playing with tremendous poise for a youngster starting his second varsity game at the QB position.  Nate Medrano led all rushers with 8 carries and 131 yards and a touchdown.  Christian Cedeno turned in his best performance of the season with a 45 yards rushing an impressive touchdown run. Ronald Montgomery had 2 receptions for 43 yards, and Joshua Barrera had 5 receptions for 57 yards.

The Wrecking Crew defense had it’s first shutout of the season by limiting the Wildcat offense to 130 total yards.  Armando Martinez is making a serious claim for the 29-AAA Defensive Player of the Year with his efforts.  He continuously makes great plays.  The linebackers played a great game led by John Santos, and Connor Hoffman.  Jose Soria continues to shut down receivers and the running game to his side of the field at the Cornerback position.  Orlando Medrano and Daniel Garcia also had a good game on the defensive line.

The Offensive line opened up lanes and protected well.  These young men never receive the accolades they deserve:  Paul Castro, Jonathan Ramirez, Brandon Hernandez, Joshua Macat, and Ian Salazar.  It takes a special young man to come before everyone to practice and stay after everyone has left and never see their name in the paper.  They power the Pirate Ship and make it go!

This is the most important week of the year.  We host Devine on Friday and we are asking for everyone to fill every inch of our stadium and get loud, rowdy, and Pirate Proud!  Our boys are preparing very hard for this game.  The Pirates are ready to move our program forward with a big win over the Warhorses!

Go Pirates!!!!!
