The Lytle Pirates accepted the challenge of taking the next step forward as a program and delivered a huge victory by defeating Devine 44-42 in overtime and setting up a District Championship showdown in Hondo Friday night.  The offense once again looked like a well oiled machine.  The offensive line opened up running lanes for Nate Medrano who ran all over the Warhorses.  Bryan Bippert engineered an offense that moved the ball up and down the field.  The hits were fast and furious throughout but the Pirates withstood a couple of self inflicted mistakes to prevail.  The defense gave up some big plays against a big play Warhorse offense but came up with key stops to swing the momentum in the Pirates favor.  Connor Hoffman played like a man on a mission.  He led the defense in tackles and also played much of the night on offense.  It took a collected effort by all the Pirates to be victorious on Friday.  The boys are hungry for a title and yet humble enough to work and earn the right to be called District Champions!
We need to pack Hondo stadium on Friday and be Lytle Proud and cheer our boys to victory!!  The Pirates have been working for this moment since last November.  We are on our way to the State Playoffs for a second consecutive year!
