Our  Lady Pirates opened their season last night against Pearsall, the 8th grade B team were defeated 5-0, as the 8th  grade A team won 29-9. Our B team played great defense, just needed to take the opportunity and shoot more. With practice, time, and repetition it will all come together and fall into place.  As for the A team they were aggressive defensively, took them on man to man, and shut Pearsall’s offense down.  We executed plays last night successfully, which made all the difference on the scoreboard. Their confidence on the floor shined through, it was quite a sight to see. Our next game is November 21st against Carrizo Springs on their home court @ 4:30, 5:15, 6:15, and 7:00.  Thank you for your continued support, hope to see you there!

The Lady Pirates 7th Grade Basketball Team kicked off their season with 2 big wins against the Pearsall Lady Dogies.

The B Team started the night off right, securing a victory with the score 13-6. The Lady Pirates started the game off strong with a 6-0 run with Monica Vela and Stefani Ramos providing offensive firepower. Captain Carmen Herrera took over the game in the second half, scoring 5 of the teams 7 second half points and provided a strong presence for her team.

The A Team held on for a 15-13 victory. The Pirates started the game sluggishly, missing some defensive assignments early on, but recovered to go into the half tied at 7. The second half was tightly contested, but was taken over by Captain Kayla Herrera. She scored a team high 9 points through the contest and had many steals which helped to seal the victory for Lytle.

Overall, both games were great team efforts. We will continue to work on our defensive presence and spacing the floor so we are more efficient on the court. The next game is in Carrizo Springs on Thursday, November 21. First game tips off at 4:30. Go Pirates!
