The team traveled to Uvalde on Saturday short-handed to participate in the 1st annual SWTJC Cross Country Invitational.  The only full team we had was the Varsity boys who claimed 1st in the small school division.  Elijah Marquez led the way placing 3rd, Jethro Stokes 4th, Landon Vasquez 8th, Alex Herrera 10th and Jimmy Angeles 16th out of 58 runners.

The girls would have captured 1st but only had 4 runners competing this week due to prior engagements.  Natalie Cortez captured the individual title with a strong finish, Vanessa Estrada finished 4th, Maria Godina 7th and Leala Marquez 11th out of 57 runners.

The JV boys had a couple of great showings as Gabino Olalde claimed 1st and Jose Garcia had a strong finish to edge out a runner for 2nd.  Nikko Beavers finished 15th and Tre’von Huth 36th out of 61 runners.

The JV girls had 3 runners with Aubrey Torres finishing 4th, Meagan Trimmer 10th, and Victoria Lara 13th out of 25 runners.  The team next travels to Round Rock, site of the 2013 State Meet to compete against some of the best runners in the state.  Varsity girls will run at noon while the Varsity boys will run at 12:30.
