Last night the 7th grade girls began their journey as Lady Pirate Basketball players.  Coach Bippert has taught me many important lessons.  We went into the game last night with the goal “to have the opportunity to win the game in the fourth quarter”.  The B team cut the Devine’s lead to 10 – 11 in the 4th quarter but the Fillies from Devine made some free throws and the B team was outscored 16 – 10.  The score sheet showed these girls put the ball in the basket.

Ariel Munoz  4 pts

Natalie De La Cerda  2 pts

Kimberly Diaz  2 pts

Emily Garcia  2 pts

The A team won their first game as Lytle Pirates.  The closed out the game with a tough press and scored a 28 – 22 victory.  As Coach Bippert says “JAPV – Just another Pirate Victory”.  We came out quickly with and 8 to 3 first quarter lead but because none of the girls ran Cross Country they tired in the second quarter and allowed Devine to close the score to 11 to 10 at half.  The leading scorers were

Jeanae Harden    14 pts

Autumn Frias         6 pts

Destinae Darby     2 pts

Ashley Klinger       2 pts

Mabel Rios             2 pts

Catalina Barrera    2 pts

We have much to work on to get to where they need to be.  We shot a rousing 0 for 14 from the free throw line.  If you get a chance to see the ladies play you will not be disappointed.  I personally would like to thank Coach Wilson for giving me the chance to Coach the girls.  Good Skill to the football lads as you prepare for the first game of the second season.
