Head Boys Track

I just wanted to add to the performances we had last night in the 3200m run at La Vernia.  Jethro Stokes became only the 4th person we have had in Lytle in the last 20 years if not more to break the 10 min barrier with a time of 9:53.  He follows Cesar Gonzalez, Sebastian Benavides and Brandon Lacy on this very difficult feat.  Two of those three runners were State Champions and the other a State Runner-up.  We hope that Jethro can follow in their footsteps within the next 2 years.

We also had personal records broken by Alex Herrera 10:17, Elijah Marquez 10:15 and Christopher Lacy 11:27.  And Natalie Cortez improved 14 seconds from Saturday and had a strong finish to capture first.  Natalie was defeated by a La Vernia girl by 24 seconds 2 weeks ago and Natalie turned it around on her yesterday by beating her by 5 seconds.  We also had a great run by Maria Godina who captured first in the JV girls with a very strong finish.  These runners work very hard at their craft and I am very proud of them and how they seem to perform every week.
