Over Spring Break, the Lady Pirate powerlifters traveled to The American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, TX for the state meet. We had three girls who qualified this year. Our two team captains, Lauren Center, Paige Kruciak, and Reann Silvas. The girls have spent many hours in the weight room and their dream of lifting at this meet had come to fruition.
Lifting against the best the state had to offer, the girls brought their “A” game to the platform. Lauren Center finished her career with a 3rd place medal and owns school records in all three lifts, and for total lifts as well. She finished her career by lifting an impressive 380 lbs on the deadlift. (she lifts in the 132 lb class!)
Paige also placed 5th and owns school records for all three lifts and totals. She is a junior and a great leader. She is very passionate about the sport, and looks forward to next year.
Reann is a great story, as she only started lifting last year. She has had amazing strides, and ended her lifting career with personal bests, and can boast that she is one of the top 10 strongest girls in the state.
it was very rewarding to see how the girls performed. The confidence, the determination….it meant something to them. It was just an awesome experience to be involved in, and a shout out to the supporters…I think we had the loudest fans..two thumbs up!
Our girls team motto this year was: “its not about looking pretty.” “Its about bending bars and embarrassing the boys.”
Little Nathan Medrano will be representing Lytle this weekend in Abilene this weekend at the boys state meet. I know he would appreciate some “go get em Nate.”
Thank you for your continued support
