As I said early last Friday….Jethro and Natalie qualified for the state meet in the 3200m run as they both set personal bests and Natalie smashed her school record she set last year.  On Saturday, Natalie again had to face some tough competition and was seeded 5th going in to the 1600m.  She again ran an excellent race as she broke her school record she set the week before and placed 2nd to qualify for state in that event as well.  Jethro had a more difficult time as he just ran out of gas the last lap which is usually where he overtakes people.  Unfortunately he didn’t have his usual kick and finished 8th.  Natalie and Jethro will compete next week in Austin on May 9th and 10th.  Natalie will compete in the 3200m Friday morning at 9:20 and Jethro will follow at 9:40.  Natalie will again compete on Saturday May 10th at 2:45pm in the 1600m run.  They have been a great joy to coach.  I know it is said often about the kids we coach, etc…  but these 2 have been working out hard with me since last June.  Their hard work has already paid off in Cross country as they both received State medals.   We are just hoping that they can finish the track season as they did cross country.  It will definitely be harder to do…but a challenge I know they will not back down from.  Thank you for all your support.

Below is the progression each of these two runners have made in their respective State events the past 2 years.  This is the first year Jethro ran the 3200m.  Last year he was a 800m and 1600m runner.  Underneath that is what Lytle has done the last 8 years at the State Track Meet.
