Yesterday afternoon the Junior High led off the Bandera Race by running in the first two races.  The weather report this morning said temperature records were matched for heat.  I think the heat made some of my runners lose the joy of the opportunity to run.  The eighth grade boys seemed to wilt the most in the heat.  They finished seventh overall as a team and were beat by every team in our district who competed yesterday.  Hopefully they will realize they are better than how they ran yesterday.  We did not represent Lytle Cross Country well.  The times and places are:

Carlos Tamayo                 35th                         14:22

Giovanni Perez                 36th                         14:33

Johnny Gonzales III         49th                         15:35

Jared Garrison                   61st                         16:57

Zachary Rodriguez           69th                         17:26

There were two highlights.  Thalia Gonzales ran in her second race after recovering from an injury and she medaled in 17th with a time of 16:04.

Mark Cantu has place 2nd in every meet he has run to this point.  He was outrun by runners from Del Rio, Pleasanton and Pearsall.  This week no one beat him and he won first with a time of 11:59.  Alex Esquivez medaled in 15th with a PR of 13:45.  Goyo Alcorta closed out the medals for the seventh grade by placing 25th with a PR of 14:24.   These three did really well but a team consist of 5 and the rest of the runners who finish close to Goyo were too far back to give us a second meet title.

Isaac Howard                     44th                         15:35

JC Hernandez                    55th                         15:49

Mason Ringer                    65th                         16:26

Rafael Pacheco                 72nd                        16:44

Dario Alfaro                        76th                         17:13

Israel Aguinaga                 85th                         17:48

Quen Syma                         90th                         18:01

Kyle Mueller                      96th                         18:38

I hope this race taught them lessons about running in the afternoon because we turn around and run the final race for 2015 next Monday at Hondo at 4 pm for the girls and 4:30 for the boys.

Have a great day.  I think I will celebrate scream in frustration day just for the fun of the day.
