Wow! After junior Maria Godina and sophomore Josh Gamboa barely got out of district by both finishing 9th last Monday...they show up today in a windy, muddy, cool morning and finish 17th and 15th respectively. With that they become the 2nd girl and 7th boy to make it to STATE as an individual since I have been here. Both last year finished 27th and 29th respectively at district last year and to see what they did today was really truly amazing. They fought and battled through the course and ran how many people in our region expect Lytle runners to perform. They were at their best in their biggest moment. Congratulations to both and good luck at state!!!

And to show how strong our district is...2 of the 3 teams that got out of our district in both divisions made it to state as a team.

On a sad note...Natalie Cortez woke up this morning with both a tummy ache and her legs still bothering her. But she fought through the course and finished 32nd. Maria would not be where she is at if it wasn't for Natalie. It was hard to see Natalie finish her XC season that way. Especially after all her setbacks. If she would have not had a stomach ache (threw up after race) she definitely would have been ahead of Maria. But through it all...she never surrendered. Thanks Natalie for all you have done and all the great xc memories!:)
