Pirate softball has almost completed scrimmage season with a trip last night to face Alamo Heights.

On the JV side, aggressive running, solid defense including a TRIPLE PLAY and consistent hitting earned the Pirates a 10-3 victory.  In our two JV scrimmages, 19 of our 22 available girls (2 injured or sick) have been able to get into a game and contribute to our program.

Varsity started slow and with a couple of miscues steamrolling in the first 3 innings to fall behind 10-0.  Most teams early in the season would pack it up to hit the bus, but the girls challenged themselves to win the 4th inning and see where that took them.  They "won" the last four innings 6-0 to fall by a final of 10-6.   It was a great showing of character and guts that we can refer to when things get rough on our season's journey.

Talents and game personalities are developing as legitimate competition is underway at virtually every spot on both teams- heightened even more beginning today with the addition of our multi-sport athletes from basketball.  Our ride continues with Valentine's Day scrimmages Saturday in Somerset.
