Spring Break!!!!! continued for Lytle Softball as the JV squad put up impressive numbers once again with an 18-0 shutout in the first game of the night. Deja Darby continued her aggressive pitching with another shut out performance and offensively the girls once again put up a big number on the scoreboard. Kayla Givens continues her growth as a first year player and hit a 3 run homer out of the park to the right of the flagpole in right center!!
Varsity looked to continue the momentum and battle Bandera varsity who entered the game undefeated in district play. Macy Smith overpowered the Bulldog lineup in the circle and with two runners on in the 5th inning, Sadie Bippert hit a bullet that hugged the right field line and drove in both runners with a triple. Smith shut down the last 6 outs of the game with 4 strikeouts. Defense the entire game was solid and the girls kept the pressure on the entire time.
Lytle moves to 13-5 on the season and improves to 2-1 in district action. They travel to Fredericksburg this Friday for 5/7 games.
**Bigger life lesson takeaway than a score for today – with the heartbreaking situation occurring at the baseball field, you see the relationships and friendships all of our students and parents in the stands that have been built here in Lytle. As word trickled out of what happened, our girls were upset for their fallen friend and fellow student-athlete. During the timeout, they circled together in prayer for his comfort and then I saw them all writing on their arms. I had them take a picture post game of what they wrote and were feeling right then and thought I would share their moment with you today. #playfor4
