The JH Track teams traveled to Bandera for a pre district meet. The Pirates made a good showing across all four divisions.  If there was an award for best overall athlete, Jeanae Harden would have won that title; she brought home 5 gold medals. She placed 1st in triple jump, long jump ( with an impressive jump of 14'10"), 4x200m, 200m, and she anchored the 4x400m relay. Emily Garcia doubled up again in the throwing events winning shot put and discus.  She again broke her record with a shot of 34'9".  Destinae Darby brought home three golds and one silver. She got 1st in the 100m, 4x200m, and the 4x400m; she took 2nd in high jump.  Other members of the 4x200m relay team was Autumn Frias ( who got 3rd in the 200m) and Camryn Hoffman.  Autumn was on the 4x400m relay along with Angelik Martinez. Ariel Muraira took 2nd in the 3200m run.

The 7th grade boys continued to be impressive.  Carlos Tamayo brought home three golds in the 800m, 400m, and the 4x400m relay (Damyan Derrick, Carlos Tamayo, Thomas Dominguez, and Omar Al-Qahtani). Oscar Rodriguez finished 2nd in the 100m. David Wietzel finished 2nd in the 1600m.  The 7th grade boys 4x100m and the 4x200m relay teams finished 2nd.

For the 8th grade girls Alexis Rodriguez finished 2nd in the 100m dash, Jessica Cuenca 3rd in the 400m, Clarissa Cantu 3rd in the 1600m; the 4x100m relay team finished 2nd, and the 4x400m team finished 3rd.    

For the 8th grade boys Devin Frias finished 1st in the 100m dash, Victor Garcia 1st in discus(138-01/2") and 2nd in shot put. Nathaniel Garcia finished 2nd in the 1600m, the 4x100m relay finished 2nd, Kannon Hunter finished 2nd in triple jump.

We have a few days to prepare for the district meet.  We will be ready to make a BIG statement. Hope you can be there.
