“Losing doesn’t make me want to quit. It makes me want to fight that much harder.” -Paul “Bear” Bryant
I hope your Easter preparations are in full swing. Last night the High School Throwers competed in Pleasanton while the Junior High Throwers took a trip to Bandera. We are improving but I know my high school throwers expect more. Gabi Medina began the night representing the varsity in Shot Put. She won the competition but knew she didn’t throw her best. Her 35’ throw was good enough for 10 points. Katelyn Van Dong placed second with a 26’ throw and Kristen Center medaled sixth with a 22’6” throw. Her last throw moved her from 8th to sixth to medal. Tatiana Flores continued to be consistent by placing 3rd with a 104’ throw. She knows she can throw farther but it is not yet time. Kayla Alvarez won the JV discus with a personal record on her last throw of 85’3”.
The Varsity boys began to throw better this meet but we have much work to do. Jonathan Darby placed 2nd in discus with a 136’ press and 6th in shot with a 39’ press. Alan Lange placed 6th is discus at 106’ and 5th is shot with a throw of 40’1”. The JV boys scored the highest point total for the team at 24 points. Victor Garcia won the shot with a 40’ press and was 3rd in discus at 98’ 6”. Stephen Tumlinson threw a PR at 100’3” to place second in discus.
The Junior High in Bandera was helped by Coach McCarthy. I really appreciate her driving the ladies and shepherding the throwers. We got to compete against Fredricksburg and Boerne which we will see next week at the district meet her in Lytle. We have some work to do before we can finish the season.
“Why do you look for the living among the dead?” Asked the men. “He is not here, but He has been resurrected!” Luke 24: 5-6
The Lytle Throwers wish everyone a Happy Easter.
