Lytle Pirate Softball stayed on the right track with a great weekend in the Dilley Wolves Invitational this past weekend.

After a slow start to the morning, the girls rallied to score three runs in the last inning against D’Hanis for a 7-5 score - tournament rules may have dictated differently, but D’Hanis surrendered top seed to the Pirates for future bracket play.  Deja Darby pitched a great game and Carli Diver & Macy Smith had home runs for the team.

The Pirates faced Cotulla next and handled business with a 9-0 shutout behind Precious Carrillo on the mound.

In the first game of the gold bracket, Lytle faced a rematch from their road trip Tuesday with Crystal City.  The Javalinas suffered some injuries and the game finished up 7-1.  Macy Smith dominated the lineup once again with a commanding performance.

Saturday afternoon saw a showdown with Natalia that didn’t disappoint fans in attendance.  The Pirates came out confident, aggressive and battled back and forth with the Mustangs into extra innings locked at 2-2.  Natalia caught the momentum in the tiebreaker and took the thrilling win on a walkoff hit.

The Pirates finished bracket play with a showdown against Hondo for 3rd place.  The Pirates patiently waited for pitches to hit and were able to put up a 13-3 victory to claim the award.

Lytle opens their home schedule with a game tonight versus Poteet weather permitting and begin district play next week with a road game in Devine on Tuesday and home game with Boerne Friday.

Lytle JV also had a good weekend, beating Natalia and host Dilley to win the JV Division!
